Hi, I have a building where there have been changes to the main core areas on each floor. I have edited the DXF files to reflect the changes but when I open Hevacomp Simulator the old floor layouts are still present. Is there a simple way to get the new layouts to appear so that I can delete the old rooms and add the new ones? Kind Regards Clive

Hi, My name is Mina, I am a new user and although I really like V8i I am encountering difficulties regarding drawing walls. Can walls be copied to different floors on different CAD drawings similar to TAS's command copy walls to floor? Kind regards, Mina.

Hi Marc, Thank you so much for the rapid response, I should have mentioned from the start that I am working in Bentley Mechanical Designer v8i generating a building to calculate Heating and cooling loads, I am unfamiliar with the other programs you suggested but I will give all a try . · AccuDraw commands do not seem to work in my Design Database window, I really appreciate all the helpful advice but given this particular situation is there anything I can do? Kind regards, Mina.

Hi Clive, I suspect that your DXF background is not updating to your new layout due to the cache files within the project folder. If your new DXFs have the same name as the old ones then the cache files will be used. To display the new DXF, simply rename it and then go to CAD Input > Defaults > Default Data and select the new DXF, as below.

Applies To Product(s): Hevacomp Mechanical Designer Version(s): All Environment: N/A Area: N/A Subarea: N/A Original Author: Bentley Technical Support Group Overview Below are a set of Frequently Asked Questions that can be answered without resorting to a full article. FAQ Q] How is the water content calculated for the Heating and Chilled water calculations? A] Water content is derived as follows: For pipe sections, total internal volume For radiators, flowrate*0.00462/1000 is used* For other emitters, 2 x log10(flowrate/1000) is used* Fitting content is not considered. *these figures indicate the amount of water required to maintain the required output. Q] Why am I unable to change the pipe height from 0m? A] Pipe height cannot be altered if a DXF has not been imported. The following section of the manuals should help to explain: If you do not have a DXF file, you can specify "Blank sheet," which means that you will have a completely empty drawing (ie a blank sheet) when you start using Netsys. For blank sheet projects, all drawing is strictly 2D, all components are placed at a height of 0m, so vertical pipes and ducts cannot be drawn. If you wish to trace a true 3d pipe model then you would need to start a new project, and import a DXF background so that scaling of your pipework layout is accurate. Q] Can I import a CWS layout into HWS or vice versa? A] There is no facility in the software to allow this. Q] Do you have sample Netsys projects available? A] We have two sample projects that show different methods of connecting projects together. You must be logged in to download these projects. Mina - There is no way of copying just the walls, but you can copy a whole floor - including DXF's - onto another floor by using the Copy floor function. If you wish to change the DXF for a floor, you can use the defaults option to do this. This functionality is discussed in the program manual, which you can access via the ? icons dotted around the software, or through pushing F1 Regards, Duncan

Mina There should be a number of other files and folders around the CIBSE file, so I believe you may be running V26, not V25. If that's the case then you need to navigate into: C:\ProgramData\Bentley\Hevacomp V8i\Hevacomp\Weather data\CIBSE Note that your ProgramData folder may be hidden. If you cannot see a ProgramData folder then cut and paste the path above. Copy all of the weather data files into the CIBSE folder. Regards, Duncan
